OUR APPROACH
How we build and verify listings
Paw Around Town is a researched directory, not a marketplace. We find mobile grooming businesses through primary sources, record what they advertise, and present it without alteration. Here is exactly how we do it.
What we research
For every listing, we check at least one primary source:
- The provider\'s official website, including service-area and pricing pages
- Published city-specific or neighborhood-specific pages
- Verified industry directories (e.g., National Cat Groomers Institute)
- Local business registrations where available
We do not scrape review sites, forums, or social media for business details. Every phone number, service description, and coverage area comes from a source the business controls or an authoritative industry registry.
What we verify
We verify that a business exists at the URL we list and that the information we publish matches what the business advertises on its own site. We also record:
- Coverage areas: Exact cities and neighborhoods named on service pages
- Services: Bath, grooming, cat care, and any specialties listed
- Pricing: Published starting prices or "request a quote" designations
- Contact: Official phone numbers and booking links
We do not verify customer satisfaction, license status, insurance coverage, or availability. Those are between you and the provider.
What we do not do
To be transparent about our limitations:
- We do not book appointments or handle payments
- We do not show real-time availability or schedules
- We do not guarantee prices, coverage, or service quality
- We do not accept payment for editorial placement (enhanced profiles are labeled separately)
- We do not create listings from unverified submissions without source checks
How we cite sources
Every listing includes source URLs. When we check a provider\'s city page, we record the specific URL and the date checked. You can see these on individual provider profiles and in our local coverage guides for Barkbus and Groombuggy city pages.
Coverage checks are dated and link to the exact page we reviewed. If a provider updates their service area after our check, the listing may become outdated. You can suggest a correction or claim a profile to update your own information.
